SERP Ranking and SEO

It is absolutely necessary for a blogger or SEO professional to check their SERP Ranking for target keywords. One of the most common mistakes bloggers and website administrators make is that they write and publish articles without targeting any keywords at all.

SERP Rankingserp ranking

The average guy doesn’t spend one minute thinking about SEO, SERP Ranking, PageRanks or backlinks. But, if you landed on this webpage, you are not the average guy. You are actually interested in all of these internet marketing concepts and they are going to help you get what you most desire: lots and lots of traffic.

The traffic sources for your webpage could be either paid advertising or traffic from the search engines, which is probably the one you are looking for, since it’s free and organic. What we want to do is to devise a strategy to influence the search engines to promote your website in its results.

One strategy would be accumulating lots of valuable backlinks. The more good backlinks lead to your site, the higher you will rank in SERPs. And if you manage to accomplish that for most of the relevant keywords for your website, you’re all set.

But there’s a catch. Most of the SEO knowledge is purely theoretical, due to the nature of the search engines and the intricate algorithms they use to rank the results. This means that the results will be proportional with your efforts.

So, keeping in mind that there’s , the only thing you can do in correlation with your SEO efforts is to ensure that you offer fresh and interesting content for your users or viewers, and determine them to prefer your page over those of your competitors.

What Is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is considered to be the technical side of the Internet marketing efforts to promote a website. SEO implies minimal HTML knowledge. It’s also known as SEO copyrighting because most of the techniques used to improve the perception of your website by the search engines involve the use and manipulation of text. In general, SEO is defined as the optimization efforts of webpages or websites with the intent to render them easier to find, index and understand by the search engine, and thus improving their position in the search results.

How Does SEO Work?

The algorithms the search engines use are intricate and the results of many years of evolution. They have gained over the years learning abilities. Also, some of the features and the criteria of the algorithms have to be kept secret in order to ensure a fair playground for everybody. If the criteria were public knowledge, they could be misused in order to manipulate the search engine results and this would result in a loss of relevance of the results and in a poorer experience for the end-user. There are some general hints about what to do and especially what not to do, in the major search engines guidelines for webmasters or terms of use (which I strongly recommend to be read and especially obeyed).
